Happy Holidays from the New Website
Dear Readers,
I hope you had a great Thanksgiving, full of delicious food and, more importantly, time with your families. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. It’s the one day out of the year when I don’t feel so bad about filling my belly full of turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, gravy, delicious deserts, and did I mention gravy? Steam rises from the large plates of food that get passed around the table. Conversations range from what’s going on at work to funny stories about when we were kids. I tend to take a backseat to the conversations and watch all the wonderful new memories that are occurring. I’ve noticed that many of the memories I share with others and memories that others share with me aren’t work related. Instead, they are about those moments that happen when our guard is down, and we are simply enjoying life. For me, Thanksgiving is a perfect time for that to happen.
After dinner a few gravitate toward the living room to watch either football or college basketball or to sleep off the turkey coma. The rest clean up and transform the kitchen table from a feast into a Black Friday strategy session. Ads fly across the table as laptops and iPods fire up. The family carefully plans every move that will occur during the sales, making sure the kids’ Christmas lists are completed with precision and efficiency. No item gets left unchecked. As the glasses of wine empty, the laughter increases. Between the snoring and cheering in the living room and the laughing and planning in the dining room, kids run in and out of the rooms, hollering and playing as they follow their imaginations.
Thanksgiving is definitely one of my favorite holidays. It’s the gateway to a season full of time with family, laughter, and lots of delicious food. It’s followed by New Year’s, which is a reminder of new beginnings and the hope of a good year. The holiday season is the time of the year when I recharge my batteries, reflect on the things that are important to me, and ready myself for another busy year.
Speaking of a busy year… As you can see, the website has been given a makeover. I’ve been working with a brilliant new web and cover designer. I’ve also been working on the next book in the Grace’s Series. If you enjoyed When A Heart Breaks and want to continue the series, then keep an eye out for Never Goodbye. It continues the story of the characters from Grace’s restaurant and brings in a few new ones. I will keep you posted.
For now, I hope you enjoy the holidays, delicious food, and time with the ones you love.
